Westwind Swing Band's Mission:

To preserve the music of the Swing Era by sharing our joy of classic swing band arrangements as accomplished musicians.

Westwind Swing Band was started in 2015. This 14 piece band was formed by Joe Singer, our lead clarinetist, who was primarily inspired by the music of Artie Shaw. The band focuses on music from the 1920's to 1940's, playing a combination of swing music, Dixieland, and jazz tunes popularized by iconic bands like Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and of course, Artie Shaw! The band consists of talented musicians from the Hopkins Westwind Concert Band and features two amazing vocalists, Luke Slivinski, and Robyn Barziza Chargo.

Our portfolio of tunes is constantly growing and we are available to play at a variety of functions, ranging from private events and parties, to weddings and community concerts. Typical venues that work well for us are banquet and concert halls, party rooms, wineries and micro breweries, retirement communities, and senior residences.

Because the musicians are unpaid, and the band is part of a community band, our performances are very reasonably priced, consisting of a suggested donation to the band. Donations help us to pay for the cost of music and equipment, rehearsal space, storage and travel expenses
