Classic big band sounds from the 1940’s to today. Founded in 2014, The West Metro Big Band is dedicated to the presentation and preservation of the historically significant sound of the classic big band. Consisting of current and former music educators, the WMBB rehearses once a month in the back of Huikko’s Bowling Alley in Buffalo. Our mission is to serve as an educational ensemble for the public schools in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. Well versed in the art of the lyric, we are proud to be joined by our vocalist Joyce Lyons, who after a very successful small stage and cabaret career in New York City, relocated to Buffalo with her husband Bill. Joyce has worked with the likes of the late Joe Beck, Kenny Ascher, Bucky Pizzarelli, Jay Leonhart, Lee Musiker, Lou Marini, Dick Lieb and Al Gafa. Along with the WMBB, Joyce also works frequently with the trio of Phil Aaron, Gary Raynor and Jay Epstein
